Student Complaints and Suggestions

The School of Law recognizes that from the day a person becomes a law student, he or she also is considered a member of the legal profession. The students of the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law are expected to conduct themselves at all times with maturity and with awareness of the responsibilities of the legal profession and of the obligations arising from the privileges granted them by the School of Law.

Students are expected to attend all classes in the absence of unavoidable circumstances. They are further expected to complete their assignments and to be prepared to recite at all classes.

Following the time-honored practice of lawyers when they address the court, law students are required to stand when they recite in all classes. The only exception to this policy is that small seminars often involve a more informal mode of discussion and inquiry.

To the extent that conduct of a student does not meet these standards, examination grades may be adjusted downward in arriving at a final grade in a particular course. An instructor may give a student a failing or unsatisfactory grade in a course in which the student passes an examination if the instructor determines that appropriate standards of attendance and preparation were not met.
